Harris Burdick Story Ch 7
Chapter 7 The next night he had homework to do, Alberto had to do math but it was his least favorite subject. Alberto wanted to use the wand to magically finish it for him, he pulled out the wand and waved it at the work, when he waved the wand it hit the tip of his pencil and BOOM! It flew across the room and hit the opposite wall, he had found it! The wand's magic couldn't penetrate lead!
The next morning Alberto biked down to the Museum of the History of Science to get a custom lead box for him, luckily he had gotten his allowance a few days ago and could pay for it without his dad getting suspicious. He asked the person at the ticket desk if he could talk to one of the scientists. They escorted him to one of their smartest scientists and Alberto asked," Can you make a full lead box for me? It is for a science project at school." He replied," Sure, that sounds great!"

Ana's Apartment Connection December 21, 2011
In the story "Ana Finds An Apartment." Ana, her husband Mario and their son Antonio moved to North Carolina and stayed in a hotel, at the same time, they were trying to find an apartment to stay in. Ana was the one looking for the apartments and wanted some amenities but didn't want to spend too much money because they were saving for a house. Ana narrowed it down to five different apartments and made appointments to meet with the manger of each. She met with them and found the one, they discussed it and decided to stay.
I can connect to this story because when my family went to Disney World in Florida, we had to consider what hotel to stay in. We decided that we didn't need too many amenities because we were going to be at the Disney parks most of the time and not at the hotel. In the end we got a good hotel just like in the story.

Chapter 6
Alberto thought that if the wand was in a box it wouldn't be able to wash back up on shore. He got a regular cardboard box and put the wand and book in it, he then biked back to the main river and CHUCKED IT! It started to sink so he thought it wouldn't come back. In a matter of minutes he couldn't see the box at all so he picked up his bike and went home. That night when he was at the hotel he looked through his binoculars at the river and didn't see anything so he looked at the bank and saw something in a rectangular shape, he couldn't tell what it was through the binoculars so he biked down to the river bank to see what it was. When he got there he immediately noticed a distinctive purple glowing coming from the rectangle, he looked closer
and saw it was his cardboard box that he through in.
That night when he was in his bedroom, he started experimenting with the wand, particularly what the magic couldn't get through. He tried copper, foil, paper and brick, but none of them could stop the magic.

He first thought to simply break it, so he took the wand and tried to break it on his knee." I did it!" He said when he first saw the broken halves of the wand, but then something magical happened, the wand molded back together. He was very freaked out at this and instantly dropped the wand and backed away." Well, that didn't work." He had thought of many ideas but one in particular sounded like it would work; he would throw the wand in the river. The very next day Alberto went to the river bank and had with him the wand and book." Here goes nothing." Alberto said as he hurled the wand and book into the flowing blue river. Later that day when Alberto came back to the river he saw something very odd, the book and wand were lying in the same spot he threw them from.

Harris Burdick Story Ch 4
Chapter 4
At first, he was freaked out, but then he started thinking of how he could keep it. Then he remembered that he had an old bird cage because he used to have a pet bird that died of disease so he kept the cage hoping to sell it one day.
The next day when Alberto came back to the hotel he brought along his old bird cage to put the dove in. When his father came in the room, he asked Alberto " Why do you 'ave a bird cage in da hotel?!" Alberto replied " I brought it for decoration because this hotel is so plain." His father replied"I guess that is ok."
After his dad left the room, he made his way to 313 on the third floor, the dove room (Alberto's nickname for the room), to get the loose dove. When Alberto opened the door he saw several doves diving at him to get out of the room. He quickly closed the door and heard a bunch of thumps. He opened the door again, this time much slower, and was amazed at what he saw. There were birds flying around everywhere and some had weird flying patterns like one wing moving really fast, or random jerking while in flight. As he walked into the room he heard a crunch from under his foot and felt a little lump on the sole of his foot, he was scared to look down to see what had happened but when he did, he saw a crumpled dove wing under his foot. He quickly backed off the bird and looked at the sheer amount of doves in the room, there were about 40 - 50 doves in the room and only about 20 still on the wallpaper. Alberto then realized that the wall opposite to the one with the wand in it had the most doves still on it. He exclaimed out loud " The wand!"

When Alberto's father came in the room he said to Alberto " Vhat 'append to da vallpaper!" He replied " I don't know papa!" " Did you do anyting to da room?" His father asked and so Alberto said " I don't think so." and his dad suddenly realized that the window was open " Alberto, vhy is dis vindow open?" Alberto replied " I opened it because it vas really hot and I must've forgot about it." His father went and closed the window without asking Alberto any more questions.
After his father left the room, Alberto noticed a small purple glow coming from the wall with the box In it. Then, all of a sudden one of the doves from the wallpaper ripped off of the wall and became alive! Alberto was very freaked out for two reasons 1) because a dove just became alive after being on wallpaper and 2) because he thought his dad would yell at him for having an animal at the hotel when he shouldn't.

The next day Alberto came back to the hotel and went to the same bedroom, 313 on the third floor, and took the wallpaper off the spot with the box in it. After he got the wallpaper off, he started to pull the box open. Inside he saw that the wand had been glowing immensely. He realized now that he was sweating, not from excitement but because it was really hot out. He reached over to the window and opened it. He then went back to the book and wand and put them back in the box and put that back in the wall. He then walked out of the room locked the door behind him and walked home.
Alberto didn't know at the time but that wand would change the third floor bedroom forever.

Harris Burdick Story Ch 1
The Third Floor Bedroom
Chapter 1
Alberto, a child who lived in Florence, on Via Del Corno was about to find something amazing, because his dad worked at Hotel Fiorino which was nearby. Alberto Rivero liked to go to his dad's hotel to watch him clean the bedrooms from the first floor to the fifth floor, sometimes he helped out with the chores.
One of the chores was to strip the wallpaper off the walls and replace it with new wallpaper with a dove pattern. One time he was doing this and his dad had gone to take a break so he continued stripping the paper. As he was doing this, he came across a strange metal box in the wall, Alberto was intrigued. He looked at it closely and saw an opening, he grabbed the opening and pulled. Inside, he found what looked to be some sort of wand and a book of some sort. He picked them up and started to try to figure out what they were. As he held the wand, it started to glow with purple light. He got a bit nervous when that happened so he put it and the book back in the box and pushed the box into the wall. After that, Alberto's father came back and said " Alberto, vhat are ye doin'?" he replied " Just strippin' the wallpaper papa!"

Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters

Summary: In this story Percy has a dream of his friend Grover, who is in trouble. Now he has to save the camp with the help of Annabeth, Tyson and, unfortunately, a girl named Clarice. Percy has to be careful. He has to sneak away from the camp. Then he spoke with a god named Hermes and got advice.
Problem: There are three problems in the book so far. 1) Percy has to find Grover. 2) He needs to find the golden fleece. 3) He needs to survive.
Prediction: I predict that Annabeth, Tyson, and Percy will take a cruise to the Bermuda Triangle, AKA the sea of monsters and find danger ahead.

A Wrinkle In Time

Today I read chapter 12-the end of "A Wrinkle In Time" In chapter 12 Meg and Mr. Murray and Calvin were with Aunt Beast and Meg had to go back to IT to save her brother, Charles Wallace, from IT's mind control. IT was a giant brain that could use mind control on anything that had a mind. Charles Wallace was under IT's mind control and Meg had to snap him out of it. She thought that if she showed she loved him, he would get snapped out of the mind control.
This reminds me of the book/movie "Star Wars iv, Return Of The Jedi" It reminds me of that because in Star Wars, Luke Skywalker he's to save his father, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, from being a Sith. Chancellor Palpatine, or The Emperor, has a thing sort of like mind control that he is using on Anakin, making him like being a Sith. Luke has to fight to get Darth Vader to become a Jedi, and Anakin, again.

Shelby's Book Talk
My book is called: The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane . By Kate Dicamillo.
I would say that this book is a book for people ages 8-14 and for people that like the genres adventure and fantasy.
Short description of the book: A girl named Abiline had a rabbit named Edward Tulane and they decided to go on a boat trip. Edward some how ended up over board and in a lot of other peoples hands. Is Edward going to be okay on his big journey?
This book can be found in our classroom library and probably other library's too.

News reporter tryouts
Today in period 5 we are had our tryouts for news reporter.
Our first presenter was Jordan R. She was trying out for news reporter. Her first report was that we have been working in groups at French and math class and have been doing very well at it. She also said that nobody has said there isn't an I in team.

Planet Hillcrest: Report Mission Legends
Hello I’m Crovler Sloth just starting to come back to my normal home planet Grimth. I am going home from the craziest reporting mission in history. Today I went to Planet Hillcrest to report on the crazy things humans do. When I got to Planet Hillcrest I saw the most random and funny things I’d ever seen in my life. I can’t wait to tell you about the things I saw on my mission.
My mission day started like this, it was eight at the beginning of the day. I got my cup of rekish (a hot morning drink on my planet), sat down and waited for my favourite hologram show to come on, The Wigglebots, when my sound transporter buzzed. I was thinking who calls people this early. I picked up the phone and my boss was on the other end of the line. He said with his deep, intimidating voice, “Get down to your office now! I have a job for you.”
It was cloudy out, just the way I like it. I wanted to stay outside but I had to get to my office. When I got to my office my boss,Rolck Lore, said, “We need you to fly to Jupiter.” “Why?” I replied, with a mixture of excitement and fear. Rolck replied, “We need you to report on life on Jupiter just in case they try to do something bad to us.” The next thing I knew I was testing the engines and taking off in my shuttle.
I was about two hours away from Jupiterwhen my shuttle started to overheat. I had to land somewhere to let my shuttle cool down. Luckily for me, another planet was just underneath me. I decided I’d land and let my shuttle cool down.
When I landed, I opened my shuttle door and screamed (laugh on my planet). I saw a bunch of creatures running around and doing things illegal on my planet. Then I recognized the creatures as humans which I read about in a book. Although I forgot the name of the planet the humans lived on, when I looked up at the symbols on the big building I remembered the planet as Planet Hillcrest. Then a loud, ear bursting, bitter, high-pitched sound came from what felt like everywhere and all of the little humans got into mini parades. Then the little humans went into the big building and the big humans followed as did I.
Inside, all of the little humans went into different rooms and I picked one room to go into with them. When I got inside the room, the little humans stood up randomly and looked up at a piece of paper with three red symbols while some source of smooth sounds filled the room. When that strange moment was over, the little humans pulled out what I thought were manuals and started looking at them. After a few minutes of being bored while the little humans read the manuals, the big human in the room said something in a strange vocal pattern and all of the little humans put away their manuals and pulled out blinding yellow and white folders. Then, for ages, all the little humans did was write down their funny little symbols until finally the big human said something else and the little humans lined up in another mini parade.
The big human then led the little humans to an even bigger room than the one they were in before. This room was white and blue with little cracks full of what looked like juice to me. There were also no chairs to sit on. All of a sudden the little humans split into two groups. While the little humans did that, the big human put colourful bombs on one of the juice cracks on the floor. “SHREEEE!” Out of nowhereagain came that annoying, shrill, high-pitched sound. Then I noticed that all of the little humans ran to the bombs, picked them up and started throwing them at each other. I was terrified, just waiting for a bomb to go off and destroy a little human, but to my surprise no bombs went off. A few seconds later, I turned around and saw a bomb coming right at my head, but, luckily for me, my reflexes allowed me to dodge the bomb just like the little humans were doing,
After that psycho time in the big room, the big human led the little humans to a different room yet again. In this new room, there was a different big human and the first big human disappeared. The new big human started speaking and made the little humans speak in a different sound pattern than usual. That annoyed me because I just got used to the first sound patterns. After adjusting to the new sound patterns, I must admit that I started to enjoy the new patterns better. However, before I knew it, we left the new room.
When we left the room, the little humans gathered in the long, thin room and changed feet protectors, which I just noticed they had been wearing. When the little humans changed their feet protectors, they lined up in their parades at the end of the hall and went outside as the big humans followed. Outside, the big humans tried to catch the little humans. But, only humans doing certain things would get caught and either be yelled at or sent to the wall of, what I think now is a little human prison. After a few minutes went by, I was about to go to check on my shuttle when all of a sudden I heard, “SHREEEE!” That annoying, bitter sound came once again so I went inside in one of the parades.
After being outside, all the little humans did was write down more symbols until, “ZINGGGG!” a slightly different but still annoying sound came from seemingly everywhere. All of the little humans filed out into the thin but long room, changed their foot protectors once again and went outside. The only difference this time was that the big humans did not follow. So, I went to my shuttle and found that it had cooled down sufficiently for me to fly again. All of a sudden I remembered that I was supposed to report on Jupiter life. Then I thought that it would be more interesting to report on Planet Hillcrest instead and bring that back to Grimth.
I do hope you are going to like it on Grimth as you are now reading my report which is on my shuttle with me at this very moment.

The Small People of Planet Hillcrest
In the silence of the night a small spaceship landed behind a bush and the light faded until the starless night returned.
It was dark not at all like my home planet Blablooblee. There it is always light. Here this light pops up and later gets dark. Dark light, dark, light. What is happening?
Planet Hillcrest is where the small people go. Dozens come by this big yellow alien .Outside the big people chase the small people around waving there arms and blow this high-pitched sound. The small people go one behind each other and march into the jail place.
The leaf is the leader of all the big people and the small people of Planet Hillcrest. The voice changes, sometimes it is low sometimes a few people chant it. It comes from the sky where they chant. The small people stare at a red and white cube looking thing on the wall of the jail. With their thinking devises by their side they sit in their sitting device with legs.
The small people were looking at this fat thing full of crazy signs and something called knowledge. They small people were picking them up with their tentacles. I tried to help but I put in my mouth instead of my hands. The small people had to turn to a certain place in the fat thing full of crazy signs and knowledge that the big people said when I finally translated it.
My trip to Earth was strange. I learned never to swallow the fat things full of crazy signs and knowledge. My chief told me to go get a human to run a test so I guess I will be going on another trip again.

My Trip to Planet Hillcrest
The day started off very normal in the shower washing my four legs then my ten ears on our Planet Boopie. I left to go see what those Hillcrest bots do on their planet and report it back to my friends, like it was planed, me Acromob left in my favourite ship the Star Blaster listening to my favourite tunes. ‘Boom’ the ship landed and I walked out and right in front of me the two eyed Hillcrest bots.
A loud annoying screeching noise comes out of well I don’t know where and the bots start marching into the huge building, so I follow. The bots have some big colourful back sort of things and they put them on a holding thing device. After they go put their bottoms on blue weird shaped objects.
All of the bots go in their large arm rest’s and take a colourful flat square shaped objects. All of the bots have pointy sticks that jot down on the flat squares all of the bots ideas.
The screeching noise comes on again and all of the bots get up and grab their colourful back objects, they leave and I follow them. They walk onto some big yellow beast and the beast eats them and the gas comes out of the back so I freaked. I ran as fast as I could and jumped on the star blaster and I was gone.
“Boom” the ship landed on Boopie and I was safe I told my friends about the trip and I said that I won’t volunteer for the next mission, and I was glad to be safe.

My Wonderful Mission to Hillcrest
It was a bright sunny day in Planet Doodle Bop, and there lived an alien named Jimmy605. One day he was doing the laundry in the river and he was washing this yellow shirt it has seven arm holes because Jimmy has seven fat blue arms, three skinny pink legs and 16 stinky feet. One day I was sent to planet Hillcrest by my master softpaws04.
So there I went in my ship called the Bright Stars. Then my ship landed I was on a huge school I called my master “Hello it is me Jimmy605 I am on Hillcrest I am about to go inside I will report back to later”
I went into the school and this weird thing stomped by me it only had two arms, two legs and two stinky feet. Then this really loud annoying noise started and all the things ran outside and they stood in marching lines.
Then it was almost the end of the day and all the things jumped into these big yellow beasts then they got pooped out into black dust.
I got a call from Softpaws04 he said my mission was over and he is sending Bright Stars for me right now. So off I went back to my planet and I had to tell my master all about it he thought it was pretty crazy. Then I went to my house and sat on my soft couch, and had a nice cup of cold milk, and I thought to myself what a day.

Dilpilopolary’s Adventure to a Different Planet
Hi, my name is Dilpilopolary and I live on Planet Papafretis. All of the other aliens, well they’re aliens, to me they speak Spanish but I speak English. Since I’m the odd one I always get the dangerous missions. They want to get rid of me, but my last mission was really cool and strange. I got to go to planet earth where I could understand everybody because they spoke English as well. Some of the things they did there where strange but I fit in.
While I was at planet earth, the beginning of each day, I found out that instead of singing in Spanish when they sing the national anthem they speak in English . I know what their anthem is because instead of singing my anthem I have to sing the Canadian one since I don’t understand my own.
Another thing that I understand but my people don’t is that gym is fun! When I explained what gym was to them they said that it scary and that it would not be fun at all, especially when I told them about the best game that we played, “got-cha”.
During the fourth period, (since it was a Thursday) we had music. It was so fun! We sang a REALLY FUN song called
“zip-a-dee-doo-da zip-a-dee-da”. Their music teachers name was Mr. Crawford. We also clapped a lot. I like the music class especially; I think that that was my favourite thing.
I got friends there, lots of them actually. I liked there so much that I snuck away from my home planet and went back. I moved in with my best friend and his parents. They’re nice people. I fit in here, I like it here, I live here and now I’m a Canadian. I wonder what my next adventure will be?

The aliens see weird stuff and go home
In the Year 1999 I traveled in my super speed space ship to Earth.
I landed at hillcrest school and then I saw many things. I saw evil Geniuses, and big machines that eat people. The earthlings set on escape pods and make funny noises it was really bizarre I saw some evil geniuses planning on taking over the world. They were weird looking because they had flashing screens and you could type on them and play games like Facebook and yoville. Then the big machines were eating the little earthlings, then digesting them and plopping them out its rear pipe. Lastly, I saw humans sitting on white escape pods and making funny noises it was gross. I think our people should be worried because the earthlings are really scary and weird. And you shouldn’t go near the machines because they are very weird.

The Trip to Planet Hillcrest
The Mission to Planet Hillcrest
I was just a regular military alien, taking a shower on planet Smigsmog when I heard the military officer shout,”Bleeblorf come, you are going to Planet Hillcrest.” I was forced by him to fly my ship down to Planet Hillcrest and inspect what they did every Hillcrest day. I landed and immediately saw something very strange.
On Planet Hillcrest, the little humans would start their day in a little box inside the planet and would listen for a little sound coming from a silver box on the flat vertical surface. When they heard it, they would stand and salute a picture of their master which was on the flat vertical surface. They would all start chanting the same battle cry and I thought they were planning an attack on my planet.
When the small humans head another noise from the box on the flat vertical surface, they would get another, thinner piece of cloth to put on. They would take the other cloth off and put the thinner one on. They would then get soft spherical objects and commence using their arms to project the objects at each other. When one small human got hit, he would start to throw his fists at the person who hit him. The big human would blow into a small bright coloured object and it would make a shrill noise and get the small human to stop throwing his fists.
At the end of the Hillcrest day, the final shrill noise would sound and the small humans would march into big yellow beasts. The yellow beasts would eat them and then blackish gray human dust would come out the back end of the beast. After all the small humans got eaten, the beast would run away and come back the next Hillcrest day to eat more humans.
After a few Hillcrest days, I returned home to Smigsmog and reported what I saw to the military officers. They didn’t believe me so I told them to go see for themselves, the day after they had gotten to Planet Hillcrest and were seeing for themselves.

A poppy a day
A poppy is like a symbol of remembrance,
It helps you remember how many soldiers fought and died for us, we appreciate all they do, because a poppy a day is all we need, the poppy was there when the soldiers fought, and in the graveyard when they died. The poppies were the only flower that lived through war, and they live to this day living strong in remembrance.
